Counseling Resources
The following links are provided as tools to help families support the emotional needs of students during this uncertain time. Many students may experience anxiety and nervousness due to changes from normal life such as school closures, shortages in stores, and the information they receive from the media.
I encourage parents/guardians to work to maintain a sense of normalcy at home. I suggest that parents/guardians have honest conversations with students based in facts. Please listen to your children. Be patient with them if you observe changes in behavior and attitude. This may be the first time they have experienced fear on a national level, much like what we all remember from the events of 9/11/01.
At SMS, we will be working to develop a method of support for students and families that can be accessed remotely. Please check this site, the school website, the county website, and the SMS Facebook page for future information on remote access resources.
The following links will take you to articles that can help you best support your student.
